I am 60 years old and have suffered from back problems since I was 19. Over the years, it has got worse and now I cannot sit at all and can only stand for a few minutes. Strangely, I can walk. With my doctors help, I have contacted many spinal specialists and had three consultations but have been told that my problems are too complex for an operation. Along with others on this site, I find life extremely difficult as non-sitters have no help at all in life. If I were in a wheelchair, I could go to restaurants, the cinema, on a plane, drive a car, work and smaller things like sewing at a machine and doing a jigsaw. As a non-sitter, I cannot do any of these things.
I have lost 85% of my life and feel that we non-sitters should be considered when disabled acts are passed by government but there are so few of us, no-one cares.
